Welcome! Welcome! We’re so glad you stopped by our Web Site!

The Barrie Citizens on Patrol program is brought to you by Barrie Police Services.
If you like to have fun, a good laugh and can act responsibly, this is the Volunteer Group for you!

Who are we? Barrie Citizens on Patrol is a non-profit group of regular citizens, male and female -age 19+- with no special skills (we provide training).
How long has this program been around? We’re in our 11th year! So that tells you we are a very solid – well-accepted program and, obviously – the program works!
What do we do? We patrol the streets of Barrie looking for criminal activity. We only observe and report – we do not get involved in the criminal activity! You’ll learn more about how we do this in your training.
Does it cost money to join? No – it will cost you nothing to join - and because we are non-profit, we don’t do fund raising.
Do I need a driver’s license and vehicle to join the group? No, it’s not necessary. We patrol two persons to a vehicle, so you don’t have to have a vehicle, you can be the passenger. Just mark your application ‘Passenger Only’.
Do we get paid for this? No – this is a Community based volunteer group only.
What is the commitment that I would have to give the program? Once you’re trained, all we ask of you is one patrol per month (which is 5 consecutive hours).
How big is your group? We currently have 40 active volunteers. The ages range from 19 to 65 years of age – both male and female!
I want to talk to someone to learn more? We have a telephone extension at the Barrie Police Services – Please call the police station at (705)725-7025, then dial extension 2677 (which stands for COPS!). You’ll need to leave a message, (Name and telephone number) and you’ll receive a call-back very quickly from our City Coordinator.

How do I join? You can click on the ‘Application’ which we’ve made printable. Just print out an application – fill it out and drop it off to the attention of:
Sgt. George Cabral
Barrie Police Services - Community Services
29 Sperling Drive,
Barrie, Ontario L4M 4T2

I don’t have a printer? No problem, call our extension – we’ll get one to you!
I want to read more about the program. Click on the ‘Information’ page.

Note: the ‘Members only’ section requires a password, and is for current members only to access.

Thank you for visiting our Web Site! We hope you’ll consider joining our group! It’s a great way to meet new friends and feel you are giving back to our Community!
